Nowadays it's easier than ever for anybody to start a band, due to the rise of the Internet and the advent of New Media. Barriers have been broken. Traditionally aspiring bands tried to reach the next level by cutting a demo tape or CD when they could, then sending it to radio stations, record labels and magazines. Now bands can reach an audience immediately by releasing demos online, and can create a fan base by using the Internet and social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook.

It's now also easier than ever for anybody to grab a video camera and shoot. So that's what I did.

At the end of May 2007, I set out on an adventure meeting bands and capturing a view of the live music scene in this the first decade of the 21st Century. It was a journey that would take me from Hollywood to inside the Arctic Circle. I attended concerts and festivals, meeting bands - everywhere. Backstage, dark alleys, hotel rooms, their home. I was finding out about the people and personalities behind the music and how they view this new era.
